Transformers Trailer:
The Transformers Trailer was the closest to my idea as it contains giant robots trying to take over the earth, much like the clones in my movie.
Target audience: Male 10-30
The trailer targets its audience with fast montages, scenes of tanks flipping , giant robots, guns, explosions and action scenes. This entertains and excites the audience whilst also setting up the conventions of the action adventure genre and the sci-fi sub genre. It also satisfies the diversion need of the four uses and gratifications as it contains another world which the viewer can escape into.
The popular toy franchise the movie is based on will also gain fans who played with them or still play with them, and the trailer achieves this by staying true to the already familiar brand. This could also bring about nostalgia.
Finally the two main characters bring about audience interest, especially the relationship between Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox as it is quite aspirational that Shia LaBeouf's loser ends up with the beautiful Megan Fox and this appeals to the audience. This also fulfils the personal identity need.

Harry Potter Marketing Campaign
Posters:
Harry Potter is already a massive franchise and so much of this marketing campaign focuses on the epicness and scale of the final chapter and exploits the large following for the series by labelling it as "the biggest movie of a generation" and using dramtic imagery to highlight how everything changes and the stakes are much higher in this film. The emphasis is definately on dramticness.
Website:
It also links to Amazon and sites where you can buy mercahndise such as the DVD and video game. This is an example of synergy.

Mood Board for Men and Women in action adventure movies
I also learnt that while searching through a magazine for images there are the film industry is saturated with male action heroes with hardly any female action heroes.
I also learnt that men and women are quite over sexualised in action adventure movies-men are big and muscly, women are portrayed as sexy and alluring e.g the sucker-punch photo in my mood board.
The clour code for my mood board is generally:
Girls side
Yellow-Unstereotypical
Orange-Stereotypical
Boys side
Yellow-Sterotypical
Orange-Unsterotypical
(based on the image not the character)

Cutting Down Details:
I could cut down on the detail for the exam in these ways:
I would not include some of the extra characters.
I would leave out the information about the rebel bases.
I would leave out the complications in the end battle.

Secondary Audience:
The secondary audience for my film would be female aged 15-25 because of the second hero being a strong feisty female lead and due to the drama and romance of the film.

BLK comments
Both homeworks very good; some effective analysis. Aim to be more explicit when identifying genre conventions, for example when writing about narrative, you need to identify specific action and events that are unique to the genre.
Great choice of clips, well done.

Action adventure clip: Car Chase, Quantum Of Solace
Quantum Of Solace is the 22nd film in the extremely succesful James Bond franchise. I will analyse the first few minutes of the video (before the opening credits.)
Narrative:
Equilibrium: Quantum Of Solace defies conventions as it does not start with an equilibrium. This is beacuse it a direct continuation of Casino Royale. It starts with an explosive action sequence which is explained later and gets straight into the stroyline.
Disruption: The storyline however does change direction when M's bodyguard turns out to be a double agent and attacks her allowing criminal Mr White to escape. James then chases the bodyguard across Sicily and this then leads him on a trail that takes him to Haiti, Austria and Bolivia where he uncovers a plot to take control of Bolivia's water system and create a monopoly.
Restoration: James stops the plot in a spectacular battle and Greene the main villain dies.
Iconography:
The Iconography is the clip is very important as James Bond is known for its cool gadgets and fast cars, and its weaponary mostly guns. The cars used are Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo, both extremely fast and smart cars. Machine guns are also used during the car chase. James costume, a suit and tie, is typically smart and suave, even during a high adrenalin car chase. The lighting is natural daylight but cloud covers the sun so the clip is not overly bright. The reason for this is that James Bind does not use shadowy or dark lighting as it is not mysterious, but a fully blown, in your face, unsubtle action movie.
Characters
The main character in this clip is obvioulsy the hero; James Bond. He is everything a hero should be. He is brave, fearless, strong and also seems unfazed by the chaos around him.
Other characters in the movie are
The Villian: Dominic Greene; has an evil plan and is hero's enemy.
The Princess/ Helper: Camille Montes; As well as being the princess and having romantic involvement with James, Camille helps James solves his mission and acts as his equally strong, brave sidekcik for much of the movie.
The Donor: Strawberry Fields; she helps James to infiltrate Greene's party.
The Princesse's Father: M; Although not literally in any way the princesses father, M is the wise older figure in the film.
Setting:
The film is set in a wide variety of locations across the globe which gives the film an epic scale and introduces plenty of exotic landscapes for different types of action sequeces to take place in. This gives the film an extra appeal as people will pay for the beautiful visuals and also gives the film a global appeal.

Johnny English Clip Analysis
Johnny English is a 2003 comedy film about a incompetent secret agent played by Rowan Atkinson.
Genre
The genre is mainly comedy but has crossovers into the action/adventure genre especially in the dream sequences. However I will focus mainly on the comedic elements.
The main character (Johnny) is shown as being incompetent while believing he is actually highly proffesional. Therefore he acts professionly while doing ridicolous things (such as throwing his coat out the window) which is funny, as people find his delusions funny. Most of the other characters around him are quite good agents and are proffesional which makes the main character seem even more ridicolous and makes the audience laugh at the other characters reactions to him.
The setting is in the fictional MI7. This would normally be an action adventure setting but the film defies conventions by setting a comedy there and making the office seem quite mundane and not top secret like its normally potrayed which also makes audiences laugh.
The Iconography is similar to the setting. The normal "cool car" "gadgets" and guns of spy films are there but all these things are useless in the hands of johnny shown when the gun falls apart when he tries to use it. This shows it is a mickey take of normal spy films.
The narrative is also comedic as Johnny makes various mistakes along his mission including failing to "get the girl" and mistaking ooffins containing dead bodies for coffins containing important items. The dialogue with Johnny saying things like "all I need is a slightly bigger brain then neccasary."
The narrative also follows Torodov's narrative rule. The equilibrium is when Johnny is merely Agent 1's secretary dreaming of becoming an agent. The disruption comes when all the agents in the country die and Johnny becomes Agent 1 himself. The restoration is when Johnny ends up solving the case and proving everyone who didn't believe him wrong.
The characters follows Propp's character rule as well. There is the hero (Johnny) who defies stereotypes by seeming incompetent for most of the film but earning the right of hero at the end where he saves Britain. There is the princess (Lorna) who also defies stereotypes by actually being a better agent then Johnny however also acting as the love interest. There is the Helper, Bob, who is Johnnys long suffering sidekick. The head agent is the wise "Princesses father" who also defies conventions by seeming wise but being wrong at the end. Finally the villian is Pascal Sauvage who tries to take over Britain and turn it into a giant prison.
