Action adventure clip: Car Chase, Quantum Of Solace

Quantum Of Solace is the 22nd film in the extremely succesful James Bond franchise. I will analyse the first few minutes of the video (before the opening credits.)

Narrative:

Equilibrium: Quantum Of Solace defies conventions as it does not start with an equilibrium.This is beacuse it a direct continuation of Casino Royale. It starts with an explosive action sequence which is explained later and gets straight into the stroyline.

Disruption: The storyline however does change direction when M's bodyguard turns out to be a double agent and attacks her allowing criminal Mr White to escape. James then chases the bodyguard across Sicily and this then leads him on a trail that takes him to Haiti, Austria and Bolivia where he uncovers a plot to take control of Bolivia's water system and create a monopoly.

Restoration: James stops the plot in a spectacular battle and Greene the main villain dies.

Iconography:
The Iconography is the clip is very important as James Bond is known for its cool gadgets and fast cars, and its weaponary mostly guns. The cars used are Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo, both extremely fast and smart cars. Machine guns are also used during the car chase. James costume, a suit and tie, is typically smart and suave, even during a high adrenalin car chase. The lighting is natural daylight but cloud covers the sun so the clip is not overly bright. The reason for this is that James Bind does not use shadowy or dark lighting as it is not mysterious, but a fully blown, in your face, unsubtle action movie.

Characters
The main character in this clip is obvioulsy the hero; James Bond. He is everything a hero should be. He is brave, fearless, strong and also seems unfazed by the chaos around him.
Other characters in the movie are
The Villian: Dominic Greene; has an evil plan and is hero's enemy.
The Princess/ Helper: Camille Montes; As well as being the princess and having romantic involvement with James, Camille helps James solves his mission and acts as his equally strong, brave sidekcik for much of the movie.
The Donor: Strawberry Fields; she helps James to infiltrate Greene's party.
The Princesse's Father: M; Although not literally in any way the princesses father, M is the wise older figure in the film.

Setting:
The film is set in a wide variety of locations across the globe which gives the film an epic scale and introduces plenty of exotic landscapes for different types of action sequeces to take place in. This gives the film an extra appeal as people will pay for the beautiful visuals and also gives the film a global appeal.
